"alveo" Coffee Table By Willy Rizzo For Mario Sabot - Iced Brown Lacquer, 1970s
Artist: Willy Rizzo
A masterful and iconic piece of 1970s design. Designed by the renowned Franco-Italian photographer and designer Willy Rizzo and produced by the prestigious Italian manufacturer Mario Sabot, this "Alveo" coffee table perfectly embodies the glamour of the jet set of the era.
Unlike the more common black editions, this example is distinguished by a deep and elegant chocolate brown lacquered finish. Its top features a rectangular tray in the center, crafted from aluminum and silver-plated metal, originally intended as a "dry bar" for chilling bottles at parties or for displaying floral arrangements. The clean, geometric lines of the design are accentuated by massive metal corner brackets, subtly echoing the central tray. The entire piece rests on a recessed base, creating the illusion that this imposing block of lacquer is floating above the floor. A true functional work of art, whose sculptural presence will become the focal point of your living room.
Please note: In accordance with the original Mario Sabot editions, this model bears neither a signature nor a stamp.
Condition and details:
This table is in very good structural condition: there are absolutely no chips or impacts on the lacquer. The material is magnificent and has been fully nourished and revived by us to restore its full depth. As a vintage piece with a history, it is not "factory-fresh" and shows small marks inherent to normal use over several decades. These include scratches and micro-scratches of varying degrees on the surface of the lacquered top, as well as some wear scratches inside the central aluminum tray. These traces of time attest to its authenticity without detracting from its overall presence.
