Chair By Gabriel Viardot (1830-1904)

Artist: Gabriel Viardot
A very beautiful chair in blackened wood and rosewood, delicately inlaid with mother-of-pearl depicting flowers and butterflies within stylized frames, adorned with mother-of-pearl lettering, an openwork apron, and front legs ending in animal paws with claws. Signed Gabriel Viardot on the back of the right front leg. France. The chair is in excellent condition and has been perfectly preserved. The mother-of-pearl marquetry is splendid and intact, as are all other parts of the chair. However, the chair does not have a seat cushion. Therefore, a recently replaced silk cushion and a wooden seat are included.
