Artist: Attribué à François Eugène Rousseau
Rare pair of black crystal vases with Japanese-inspired polychrome enamel decoration in high relief, made by Baccarat after a design by François Eugène Rousseau. Only rare examples of polychrome enamel decoration in black crystal exist, and we are delighted to have acquired and present this genuine pair to you today, each vase facing the other. Note: The major figures of the Japonisme movement in the second half of the 19th century adopted and produced this form inspired by Japanese vases: Appert Frères for Rousseau, Émile Reiber for Christofle, and the ceramist Théodore Deck, each adding their own decorations and techniques.
