Original Sculpture After "alexander Dying", Plaster On Marble Base, Early 19th Century.
Artist: D'après L'antique
Beautiful original patinated plaster sculpture after the antique bust known as "The Dying Alexander," the original of which, a Hellenistic sculpture dating from the late second century BC, is currently on display at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. Having retained its superb antique patina, this lovely cabinet bust is presented on a white marble pedestal, also with a very fine patina. A striking and highly decorative piece, the sculpture shows, particularly on the back, all the traces of its early hand-crafted creation; it is certainly a preparatory workshop model dating from the very beginning of the 19th century. Note: Shipping to France is possible via Colissimo with tracking and signature confirmation: 50 euros. Other destinations upon request.
