Large Bust Of A Young Woman In The Style Of The 18th Century. Antique Cast In Patinated Plaster, 19th Century.
An important plaster bust of a young woman in the style of 18th-century French female portraits. The face, softly modeled and idealized, displays delicate features: large, open eyes, a thin, slightly pursed mouth, a straight nose, and a calm expression. The hairstyle, swept back and enlivened by gentle waves, evokes the elegant hairstyles worn in aristocratic circles during the reign of Louis XV. The figure is draped in a flowing gown that envelops the shoulders and chest. The wide, supple folds of the fabric are rendered with elegance and contribute to the overall sculptural balance, in the tradition of 18th-century decorative female busts. The bust rests on a molded circular pedestal forming a classical base. This is an early 19th-century plaster cast, displaying a beautiful warm brown patina reminiscent of terracotta, which particularly highlights the modeling of the face and the fluidity of the drapery. The back of the bust is open, in accordance with the traditional technique of early plaster casts, confirming that this sculpture is a studio mold. With its generous dimensions and decorative presence, this bust is an elegant piece, in the spirit of 18th-century female portraits and draped busts. Dimensions: Height: 75 cm
