Gondola, also known as a Bath Shell, depicting the birth of Aphrodite.
High-fired earthenware with a compendiario decoration in painted blue and yellow enamel.
19 x 10 x 6 cm.
Blue “N” mark on the underside.
Chips and soiling.

Evokes the “Gabrielle d’Estrée” style circa 1600. Similar models can be found at the Sèvres Museum, the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, and the Blandin Museum in Nevers.
