Casts Of Medieval Seals, 19th Century. Heraldry. House Of Laval. Sigillographic Impressions.
A set of three antique casts of medieval seals, likely made in the 19th century for historical study and sigillography. These pieces reproduce heraldic seals from the Middle Ages with circular Latin inscriptions and armorial shields. One of the seals appears to mention the House of Laval, an important noble family of Maine and Brittany active from the 12th to the 15th centuries. A second seal, oval in shape, typical of ecclesiastical or seigneurial seals, features a heraldic motif surrounded by a medieval inscription. The third also shows a shield surrounded by a seal inscription in the style of feudal seals. These casts are made of a lightweight material (plaster or composition) and reproduce the reliefs of original seals preserved in archives. This set is intended for enthusiasts of heraldry, medieval history, or sigillography. Sold as a set of three.
