Napoleon III Marquetry Desk, 19th Century
An elegant Napoleon III period flat desk or center table, richly decorated with marquetry.
The top features a remarkable central motif of musical instruments surrounded by floral marquetry and burr veneer. The whole is framed by moldings and ornaments in finely chased gilt bronze. The frieze is also adorned with decorative marquetry panels and opens with a wide drawer in the front. The piece rests on four tapered legs joined by an elegant stretcher embellished with a central bronze decorative element. French work from the second half of the 19th century. Very good overall condition with a beautiful patina.
