Gaming Table Attributed To Hache
Artist: Hache
Games table attributed to Hache. The slender legs and gently curved shape evoke the 18th century. The balance, with its understated apron, reveals the mastery of the craftsman's skill. The absence of molding and the quality of the wood, chosen by this cabinetmaker, showcase his expertise. The tabletop rests on rosewood stringing, laid cross-grain and framed with boxwood stringing. The triangular shape contrasts with and enriches this projecting form. The continuous grain (where the pieces are placed) adds to the refined craftsmanship. What more can be said about the contrast of the checkerboard, given the exquisite cherry and rosewood? The entire surface is typical of the period, as is the absence of a frame. The sliding mechanism is a marvel. Delivery is possible but not included in the price.
