An elegant Louis-Philippe period commode in burr walnut, French work from the mid-19th century.

This piece comes from a château located in the Loire Valley region, an area historically renowned for the quality of its furniture and the expertise of its cabinetmaking workshops.

The front features a superb burr walnut veneer arranged in an open book pattern, offering a particularly expressive symmetrical design. The rich and vibrant grain of the walnut gives this chest of drawers a striking decorative presence.

The front features four drawers, including: a top drawer with a cyma molding, typical of the Louis-Philippe style; two central drawers; and a wide drawer concealed in the lower plinth, forming a particularly practical double drawer.

This very 58 cm (22.83 in) lower drawer could easily accommodate pillows, blankets, or duvets, providing discreet and functional storage in period homes.

The understated and elegant brass keyhole escutcheons subtly adorn the front.

The drawers open with two antique keys, used here as handles to pull them open. The drawers are dovetailed, demonstrating careful and robust traditional craftsmanship.

The sides and top are made of solid walnut, whose patina and wood grain highlight the quality of the chosen wood.

The piece rests on "skid" feet, characteristic of Louis-Philippe furniture.

This chest of drawers was once installed in A room where its burr walnut veneer, with its spectacular and symmetrical patterns, captured the light and contributed to the elegance of the interior.

Today, it retains all its decorative presence and integrates equally well into an authentic interior, with stone walls and exposed beams, as into a contemporary setting, where the nobility of the walnut and the purity of the Louis-Philippe lines create a refined contrast.

Thanks to its harmonious proportions and the quality of its craftsmanship, it is both a practical storage unit and a striking decorative piece, capable of interacting with very different interior design styles.

It is in beautiful overall condition, with an antique walnut patina and some signs of wear consistent with its age, fully contributing to the charm and authenticity of the piece.
