Very Large Cachepot Decorated With Flowers, Birds, And Insects, Painted Porcelain, 20th Century, Balleroy & Cie
Artist: Balleroy & Compagnie
A beautiful, large decorative piece, this generously proportioned cachepot from 1915, by the renowned Limoges firm Balleroy et Compagnie, is truly remarkable. Its vibrant and nuanced colors, adorned with abundant flowers and foliage, birds, and insects, create a beautiful botanical world. The confident brushwork, the composition, and the slightly textured surface all contribute to an exceptional piece, rich in ornamentation. A little history: Pierre Gâté, who had been operating a former cooperative porcelain factory on Rue François-Perrin in Limoges since 1855, built this new factory in 1860, where he established his business. He built decorating workshops there in 1881. The factory was subsequently run by Delhoume in 1890, Emile Massaloux in 1900, and then by the Balleroy et Compagnie company from 1913 to 1937. Run by brothers Antoine and Henri Balleroy, then by Henri alone from 1929... This high-quality piece (as the photos attest) is beautifully proportioned and shaped, with a decoration typical of the Art Nouveau style. This lovely cachepot has everything to charm...
