Terrestrial Globe By J. Lebègue - 19th Century
a fine and rare 19th-century terrestrial globe by J. Lebègue and Co., Brussels.
The globe features a superb cast-iron base with sculpted heads ending in lion's paws.
This superb and rare globe is adorned with a graduated brass meridian circle and a central steel horizontal circle with an equatorial table displaying the months of the year and the signs of the zodiac. It is rare to find globes with both circles, especially one featuring the zodiac signs.
A very beautiful globe in excellent condition, with no major damage or holes, and retaining very good colors. While there are some signs of wear consistent with age, it remains in superb condition.
