Large French 17th Century Wall Tapestry – Louis XIII Period, Crowned Royal Cipher “l”
A French textile wall hanging, or liturgical tapestry, in silk damask decorated with a crowned royal monogram "L" and fleur-de-lis motifs, probably of Lyon manufacture, dating from the early 17th century, likely during the reign of Louis XIII. The textile features repeated royal emblems associated with the Bourbon monarchy, combined with vertical panels depicting saints, suggesting a devotional or ecclesiastical use. It depicts 24 saints, embroidered with gold metallic thread. There are some defects, losses, and wear. Dimensions: 215 × 110 cm.
