He settled in Paris after the Second World War, where he met Giacometti, Soulages, and Miró. In 1947, he was appointed secretary of the Salon de Mai committee by Gaston Diehl. His painting is figurative, consistently narrative, and creates an imaginary world with its characters, an inverted "Taillanderland." The painter describes this invented world with its inhabitants, his universe. Blending image and language, Yvon Taillandier claims to be a literary painter.
