Oil on wood probably painted during the winter of 1943-1944 and located at the Guermeur mill in the commune of Guern, in Morbihan (56) in Brittany. Signed lower left G. Boucard for Georges Boucard*, a painter from Lorient who took refuge in Guern in 1943 for a few months following the bombing of the town in February 1943. Another painting by Georges Boucard is for sale, depicting the ship Adieu Vat moored in Saint Goustan, port of Auray, painted in November 1943.
Good original condition, original frame also, though warped on the right, the panel is slightly wrinkled.

Married to Simone Fontaine, he worked as a sign and decorative painter before dedicating himself to painting full-time. The city of Lorient owns a beautiful painting by this painter, it represents the Saint Louis church in Lorient after the fire due to the bombings of 1943.
