Silver Travel Chalice, France Circa 1950
A silver and gilt silver travel chalice and paten, nielloed. The chalice is composed of four screwed elements: a circular foot adorned with a cross, a ring serving as a knot, a cup flared at the top with a straight neck, gilt on the inside, and a weight engraved with an inscription. An Art Deco-inspired design, Parisian work circa 1950. 950/1000 silver. Maker's mark: André Alexian Claude. Height: 16 cm. Diameter of the cup: 10 cm. Diameter of the foot: 8 cm. Net weight (without the weight): 317 g. The hollow paten is made of gilt silver (wear), engraved with an image of the Virgin and Child within a triangle; it rests on three pyramidal points. Diameter: 14.2 cm. Weight: 203 g. The set is kept in its original carrying case. Very good condition, without dents or damage.
