Late 18th Century Mahogany Travel Case
To keep your coins or a few pieces of jewelry safe and secure during your carriage journey, hidden among your belongings, here is a charming little mahogany box reinforced with brass. It has a pretty handle on the lid, secured with a lock (which works, but the key is ugly and modern; it would be wise to replace it). The lid is held open with a lovely period steel hinge. The feet must have been added later, but they can be removed to restore its original luggage character. The mahogany is of very high quality, light in color and beautifully grained, and the varnish is in very good condition.
