Macassar ebony writing case. Both parts open onto a writing case covered in fine gold-plated leather. Each flap reveals a storage compartment. A small mahogany plaque reveals 2 small secrets. The left upright of the right inkwell controls the opening mechanism. 2 inkwells and a pen holder. 3-hook lock for closing. Early 19th century.
