Octagonal barrel, rifled bore; marking on upper face: ADDRESS SAMl. COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA and serial number 187 under lower face.
Open steel frame, marked with two patents on left side: PAT. JULY. 25. 1871 and PAT. JULY. 2. 1872. And registered 187.
Five-chamber cylinder, engraved with the stagecoach attack, the marking COLT'S PATENT, the registration number 187 and inspection marks.
Loading gate on the right side, numbered 242. Single action, rimfire.
Brass trigger guard marked 36 CAL.
Walnut stock.
6,500 units manufactured between 1873 and 1875.
Fairly good condition.
