"Corner of the Port at Saint-Tropez"
Oil on cardboard,
Signed lower right,
Inscription on the back "Saint-Tropez",
Provenance: Gift from the artist, from his studio in Saint-Raphaël.
A beautiful work by the Corsican painter, Tony Cardella, depicting a view of the corner of the port of Saint-Tropez in the Var region, enlivened by a fisherman mooring his boat at the Quai Jean Jaurès.
His luminous and colorful palette perfectly captures the colors and light of the Mediterranean shores.
Attached to his Corsican roots, Tony Cardella continued to represent landscapes of the Isle of Beauty through his painting. He later settled in the Var region and devoted himself to painting the small villages of the Var hinterland and the marinas of the Mediterranean.
In 1941, the artist completed admirable paintings for the interior of the Franciscan Church in L'Île-Rousse, restoring to this place of worship its original function of contemplation and prayer.
He participated in numerous exhibitions both in mainland France and in Corsica, where his talent was recognized and praised by critics.
Dimensions: 46 x 61 cm unframed and 61 x 76.5 cm with its original wooden frame.
