This Japanese Imperial Police officer's saber, used during World War II, is an impressive example of the technology and finesse of Japanese edged weapons. This saber, distinguished by its steel, single edge, and curved shape, is a testament to Japanese hammered craftsmanship. It features a steel and shagreen hilt with a screw at the top of the pommel, which differs from traditional models such as the katana or kyu-gunto. This sword is an example of the meticulous craftsmanship and fine detail that are so characteristic of Japanese edged weapons from World War II.
