A gilt bronze mantel clock depicting an allegory of Astronomy, very finely chased, showing a woman in classical style reading and leaning on the base, which imitates a library within which is set the annular dial, surmounted by a globe and geometric instruments, and flanked by a telescope and compass. The base is decorated with a frieze representing men in classical style with astronomical instruments, flanked by the same attributes within a palmette border. It rests on four small feet chased with palmettes. Empire period. Height: 48 cm; Width: 33 cm; Depth: 13 cm
