Empire Style Tea Table/pedestal Table In Mahogany, Mercury-gilt Bronze And Blue Turquin Marble
An Empire period library table or tea table, crafted from mahogany and mercury-gilt bronze. It features three column legs ringed with mercury-gilt bronze, mounted on a spiral tripod base adorned with a gilt bronze star. A rare example of this type, our table includes an original drawer in the frieze. It is beautifully veneered in flamed Cuban mahogany and topped with a blue Turquin marble slab with a molded edge. This type of table is a classic of Empire period design, intended for use as a living room or library table, a tea table, or a side table in the dining room. Ours belongs to the high-end category: luxurious materials (flamed Cuban mahogany and mercury-gilt bronze), a molded blue Turquin marble slab—the most luxurious of the Empire marble colors—and a rare 81cm diameter, making it easier to position than the usual 97cm tables. With all its refined details, our side table is truly a beautiful example of its kind. It is in excellent condition: no damage or missing veneer, and the varnish has been completely renewed.
