Very Large Louis XVI Style Ministerial Desk, Late 19th Century, By Napoléon Boulle
DESCRIPTION / Very large Louis XVI style minister's desk with 5 drawers in the front with key, trompe l'oeil back. Wood and brass decorations as well as a bronze Bacchus mask on the sides, bronze asparagus on the feet and smoothed bronze rings & sabots. Two side pull-outs can slide out to provide even more workspace. The leather is original and therefore shows signs of wear: gilding is worn, there are marks and small dents. New leather can be fitted by me at the buyer's expense - approximately €1000 for the three pieces from Fey, a leatherworker in Paris. Note a slight bow in the front of the top due to its weight; this desk is very heavy. A truly remarkable model due to its unusual dimensions; I have never seen one of this size before: 200 x 100 cm excluding the pull-outs. PERIOD / Napoleon III circa 1890 DIMENSIONS / 200 x 100 cm x 74 cm high OVERALL CONDITION / very good condition AVAILABILITY / immediate PRICE / €3200
