Oil on canvas, portrait of a man in armor wearing the Order of Saint Louis, probably a Royal Navy commander, identified as Louis de la Couldre, Viscount and later Count de la Bretonnière, a high-ranking French naval officer of the 18th and 19th centuries, he was the first designer of the Cherbourg harbor.
