Important Empire Period Salon - Lion Heads And Claw Feet - Dlg De Jacob

Artist: Dans Le Goût De Jacob
Important Empire Period Salon – Early 19th Century. Comprising a banquette, two bergère chairs, and six armchairs. This very elegant Empire period salon set in solid wood includes a banquette, a pair of bergère chairs, and six armchairs, forming a particularly harmonious and decorative ensemble. The armrests are carved in the form of cornucopias, terminating in large, ebonized wood lion heads, whose powerful and expressive modeling perfectly illustrates the decorative vocabulary of imperial furniture inspired by Antiquity and the symbols of strength and power so dear to the Empire style. The armrest uprights, finely fluted and elegantly curved, rest on connecting blocks adorned with carved rosettes. The tapered legs terminate in remarkable claw feet, also in ebonized wood, reinforcing the majestic and sculptural character of the whole. The solid wood structure displays a beautiful antique patina, highlighting the quality of the joinery and the elegance of the lines. The seats and backs are upholstered in a polychrome striped fabric that harmoniously highlights the furniture's architecture while adding freshness and brightness. Complete Empire-style living room sets are relatively rare on the market today, most having been dispersed over time. The presence here of the complete set—bench, two bergère chairs, and six armchairs—gives this living room a particularly significant decorative and historical interest. A spectacular, elegant ensemble, perfectly representative of early 19th-century French furniture, ideal for a classic interior, a private mansion, or a period residence.
