Empire Period Mahogany Console, Circa 1810. A sublime Empire period mahogany and mahogany veneer console, resting on spherical front feet and straight rear feet. This console, with a mirrored base, is topped with a black marble slab. It rests on sumptuous front uprights in the form of winged chimeras, carved in ebonized wood with gilt highlights, terminating in claw feet. Its straight rear uprights frame the mirrored base. The whole is joined by a concave stretcher. Its frieze is adorned with a rich, finely chased gilt bronze mount decorated with laurel wreaths and ribbons. Beautiful wood, lovely patina.
