This lithograph, “The Magic of the Hours - The First Quarter,” is signed Henri Rivière and bears a red stamp in the lower right corner. The work is authentic and antique. Regarding its condition, there are small stains and ink marks in the margin in the lower left corner; the signature in the lower right corner is barely visible. On the lithograph itself, there is an ink mark in the upper left corner and a white spot (ink loss) in the lower right corner. The lithograph is very vibrant in color; once framed, most of the imperfections will be less noticeable. We have taken as many photos as possible of the imperfections so you can assess the condition. Sold as presented. Henri Rivière (1864-1951) was a French painter, engraver, and illustrator. He began his career in drawing, then moved on to intaglio engraving, specifically etching, in 1882. Simultaneously, in 1886, he embarked on a career as a director and set designer, creating shadow puppet shows at the Chat Noir cabaret, enhancing them with highly innovative colored sets. He then devoted himself exclusively to painting and engraving, establishing himself as a leading figure in the history of etching, printmaking, wood engraving, lithography, and watercolor (he painted approximately a thousand watercolors).
