A beautiful contemporary oil on canvas by Anne Marie Carrero (1926-2017), a Parisian artist with roots in the Ariège region (09). She painted and exhibited in Paris and the southwest of France during the second half of her life. She trained at the Académie Julian, where she won first prize for nude drawing. A student of Cézanne and Matisse, her colorful lyricism evolved throughout her long career. Her love of Spain led her to seek out beautiful textures in warm colors, culminating in a mystical quest at the end of her life. She lived in Collioure, which she captures with emotion in this vibrant canvas. She received numerous awards but remained outside the traditional art world.
