A reverse painting on glass depicting a shepherd couple in a wooded landscape.
The woman, embracing a lamb, sits beneath a tree from which a birdcage hangs, while the man plays the cabrette or musette (a bagpipe from the Auvergne region). In the foreground, a dog (a symbol of fidelity) stands peacefully watch.
Late 18th – early 19th century.
In an patineted gilt wood and stucco frame.
Very good condition, minor air bubbles.
