Jeggman Kamen – Patinated Bronze And Natural Stone Crucifix – 1970s
An important patinated bronze crucifix or cross, made in the 1970s by Jeggman Kamen, signed.
This work is distinguished by its resolutely modernist construction: an architectural composition of horizontal and vertical bronze lines forming a cross with balanced and graphic proportions.
The metalwork displays a beautiful nuanced brown patina, highlighting the volumes and structure. At the center, a sawn and polished half-stone—likely a geodic agate—is integrated into the composition. Its concentric layers in beige, gray, and brown tones, as well as its crystallized core, create a striking contrast between the raw mineral material and the geometric rigor of the bronze.
This dialogue between nature and abstraction lends the piece a strong symbolic and spiritual dimension, very characteristic of artistic creation in the 1970s. T
he aesthetic evokes both the post-war revival of sacred art and the brutalist sensibility of the period.
1970s.
Work signed Jeggman Kamen.
Condition: Very good overall condition, original patina preserved.
Dimensions: 55 cm x 44 cm x 5.5 cm.
A powerful sculptural piece, halfway between sacred art and contemporary sculpture, ideal for collectors of modernist religious art or enthusiasts of 1970s design.
