Art Nouveau Oil and Vinegar Set, circa 1900, WMF. This silver-plated metal table set comprises two original glass bottles (oil and vinegar) and a matching display tray, signed WMF. The set elegantly illustrates the Art Nouveau style that developed at the end of the 19th century. The lines are supple and organic, enlivened by stylized plant motifs characteristic of this period. The silver-plated metal mounts feature sinuous, openwork curves, creating a harmonious and balanced ensemble. The hand-blown and engraved glass bottles have slender bodies with engraved and partially satin-finished floral decoration. They are held in finely crafted stands adorned with raised flowers and enveloping foliage. The small, cabriole feet add stability and elegance to the composition. The tray, with its flowing and asymmetrical contours, echoes the Art Nouveau decorative vocabulary with its fluid arabesques and stylized plant motifs. The slender, intertwined central handle lends lightness and refinement to the piece. The WMF signature is present on the mount. The set retains its original elements and displays a beautiful decorative coherence. A representative piece of Belle Époque table decor, both functional and aesthetically pleasing, ideal for an Art Nouveau decorative arts collection or for enhancing a refined table setting.
