Pair Of Louis XV Style Lamps By Colin Et Jollet & Cie, Early 20th Century
Artist: Colin Et Jollet & Cie
An elegant pair of early 20th-century lamps in finely chased gilt bronze, bearing the foundry mark of ANC COLIN ET JOLLET & CIE.* In the Louis XV Rococo style, they feature a dynamic decoration of scrolls, foliage, and shells, resting on a richly crafted, shaped base. The curved arms support two bobeches with vegetal decoration. The casting and chasing are of very high quality, with original gilding. Produced from 1906 to 1911. In very good condition.* The Colin foundry was a highly prestigious establishment founded in Paris in 1843 and located at 29 rue Sévigné. Renowned for its high-quality cast pieces, it was exhibited at various world's fairs, notably the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago and the 1900 Exposition Universelle in Paris, where it received a gold medal. The company worked with several of the greatest Parisian bronze casters of the time, including, among others, Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse, Eugène Marioton and others. In 1906, Maison Colin changed its name to Jollet & Cie, but it also retained its original name by adding the label "Ancienne Maison Collin" to all their castings until 1911.
