Pair Of Cast Iron Garden Vases With Handles, Floral And Figurative Decoration, 19th Century
A remarkable pair of cast iron garden vases, with ovoid bodies and circular pedestals adorned with a frieze of rosettes, characteristic of the grand French ornamental production of the late 19th century. Both vases feature richly decorated relief: floral and foliate motifs on the body, a figurative medallion on one side—depicting a face within a frame of acanthus leaves—and scrolled handles typical of the Rococo style. This dual decorative register, both naturalistic and classical, testifies to the quality of French art foundries of the period, direct heirs to the tradition of Val d'Osne and Sommevoire.
