- Art Deco baluster-shaped vase in polychrome enameled glass decorated with large blue, white and black flowers and black foliage on a frosted background. - Signed under the base of the vase: - A. Mazoyer, France, and a drawing of a windmill, a nod to the city of Moulins where he lived and where he had his glassmaking workshop and retail outlet for private clients. Born in Le Creusot on March 18, 1887, and died on November 2, 1950, in Moulins, the son of a Le Creusot merchant, he settled in the city of Moulins in the Allier department (03) in 1900. Adrien Mazoyer, then a master glassmaker and earthenware maker, took over the family tableware shop at number 9 on Rue d'Allier, at the lower end of the street, and established his glassmaking workshop and sales outlet there for his glass and earthenware creations. He trained in painting on earthenware and porcelain at the renowned decoration shop Le Vase Étrusque in Paris, where he was hired and worked. He left Le Vase Étrusque to start his own business. He taught himself the complex technique of enameling glass, a specialty that would bring him international renown, particularly in the United States, where his work is listed. - His stained glass creation, produced during the Art Deco period, bears the signature A. Mazoyer, followed by a drawing of a windmill painted in black enamel. - Adrien Mazoyer stopped his production as a master glassmaker and earthenware maker during the war of 1940 because he was ill.Art Deco period, circa 1920-1935.
