Object description :

"17thc Atypical Stone Mortar"
Atypical 17th century stone mortar. These mortars were used to crush herbs for apothecary or herbalist use. Nicely worn surface, two of the four handles are still visible. This mortar was used for years to feed a dog, the antique heavy chain has one side completely and deeply worn out, which gives an atypical design at this mortar.
