"Saint Michael Slaying The Demon – Carved Wooden Sculpture – 18th Century"
A wooden sculpture depicting the archangel Saint Michael vanquishing the demon, according to the traditional iconography of the celestial battle. The archangel, with a youthful and inclined face, is shown in a dynamic pose, his arm raised, draped in a tunic with simple, structured folds. At his feet, the overturned demonic figure completes a balanced vertical composition. A late 18th-century work, probably intended for domestic devotional use. Beautiful, old brown patina. Natural cracks in the wood and slight wear consistent with age.
