Silent and almost suspended atmosphere for this port scene bathed in fog, where moored barges stand out in front of barely sketched industrial architectures. The composition favors masses and reflections, in a dull palette made of ochre, muted greens and bright gray, typical of the Belgian post-impressionist sensitivity of the early 20th century.

Karel A.G. De Posson develops here a free but structured pictorial writing: broad touches, atmospheric perspective and marked interest in the modern industrial landscape, an emblematic subject of Northern European painting between the two wars.
