Antique French painting from the second half of the 18th century. Painting oil on canvas, first canvas, depicting an early reinterpretation of the famous masterpiece by Nicolas Lancret (1690-1743), Children Playing Outdoors. This painting mirrors the original, with a slightly different, decidedly brighter setting. The beautiful, non-contemporary wooden frame is pleasantly carved, gilded, and painted (see photo).
A high-quality painting, noting the painter's skill in capturing the expressions and movements of the children engaged in carefree play. The colors are still vibrant, with numerous small losses of paint (see photo). In contrast to the original, three children have been omitted on the right side of this work to create a more graceful composition (see photo).
This artwork has a patina, showing only sporadic and small restoration interventions over time. It can be enjoyed in its current state or restored to best preserve its condition. Overall, it is in good condition, with small losses of paint. Interior size H 83 x W 125 cm.
