Neo-gothic Solid Silver Chalice By Armand-calliat Thomas Joseph
The base bears a Minerva 1st standard hallmark and the hallmark of the silversmith Armand-Calliat (ACS, a bee). The cup and paten are also hallmarked as solid silver. The decoration is clearly neo-Gothic, and the engraving is very finely executed. The gold gilding is heavily worn in places, and one of the purple stones in the central knot is not original; it is slightly too small. Total weight: 735 grams. The origin of this chalice is known and traceable.
