Mathilde Curot-Barberel, born in Paris and active from 1880 to 1905, was a miniaturist and pastel artist. She exhibited from 1880 onwards at the Salon des Artistes Français and at the Exposition Nationale des Beaux-Arts in 1898. She also worked on porcelain. She exhibited in the provinces and abroad and received numerous medals: a silver medal in Boulogne, a silver medal in Tunis, the same at the Aix International Exhibition, a vermeil medal in Reims, and a silver medal at the Paris Feminist Exhibition. She also exhibited in Le Havre in 1905 (pastels). In 1905, she lived in Paris at 45 Avenue de Villers and gave lessons in her studio. She received the Academic Palms.
