The bronze features remarkable chasing work on the collar of the dress and the actress's necklace, which holds a charming piece of jewelry characteristic of the period. Height: 56 cm with base (13 cm without base). A beautiful 108 cm high marble display column accompanies the work. Sarah Bernhardt (1844-1923), called by Victor Hugo "The Golden Voice," and by others "The Divine" or "The Empress of the Theatre," is considered one of the greatest French tragediennes of the 19th century. The first international "star," she was the first actress to undertake triumphant tours on five continents, leading Jean Cocteau to coin the term "sacred monster" for her.
