A very fine portrait of a richly dressed gentleman holding a gold snuffbox in his right hand. Beautifully rendered, with a striking presence. Unsigned, but undoubtedly by a painter from the south of France. Framed in a Louis XIV period gilt and carved wood frame. 108 x 90 cm. Cleaned, restored, and relined. France, circa 1730.
