Gilt Brass Sculptural Vase By Dolly Moreno Circa 1960-70
A sculptural vase in gilded brass by Dolly Moreno. The vase is signed and shows some minor oxidation (see photos).
Dolly Moreno was born in Alexandria, Egypt, to a father of Greek origin. She studied at the Cairo University of Fine Arts and the Alexandria Workshop. After the Suez Crisis, she moved with her family to France in 1956, where she took fine arts classes in Montmartre. Later, she moved to the United States, where she lived for eight years and studied at Queens College in New York. In Brazil, she studied visual arts at the Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado in São Paulo, where she took sculpture classes with Nicolás Vlavianos. Moreno has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions. Among her solo exhibitions are those presented at the Gloria Luria Gallery in Miami, the Galerie Jean-Claude Bellier in Paris, and the Selecte Artist Gallery in New York. Her works are part of private collections and museums in France, the United States, and Brazil, notably the Open-Air Sculpture Museum located in the gardens of the Legislative Assembly of the State of São Paulo.
