This reliquary guardian figure, "Mbulu Ngulu," exudes a strong symbolic presence and geometric rigor. The oval face, crescent hairstyle, and lateral projections are characteristic of the Obamba subgroup. The brass and copper plates covering the front display ancient oxidation and a beautiful, consistent luster resulting from ritual libations and offerings received to activate the connection with ancestors and gain their favor.
