17th-18th Century Portrait
In a beautiful 19th-century frame of richly carved wood, a portrait of Valentin Röder (1584-1665) in a medallion with a scrolled border and a cartouche containing a rhymed eulogy of the subject, superbly painted with great finesse. On the reverse is a label "HWRöhlich," supplier to the Berlin court. Our oil on canvas dates from the late 17th to early 18th century, on very fine canvas, and is in good condition.
