A marquetry bookcase in rosewood and amaranth, opening with two doors. The interior has five shelves lined with silk fabric. The legs are in the transitional style of Louis XV-Louis XVI. It features fine period gilt bronze mounts. The original marble top contains fossil inclusions. A high-quality piece bearing the stamp of Jean Lapie (received as a master cabinetmaker in 1762) and his workshop on Rue de Charenton in Paris.
