Rose Dujardin-Beaumetz, born Aline Marie Rose Dujardin-Beaumetz in Paris (17th arrondissement) on December 26, 1882, died in Carcassonne (Aude) on January 23, 1967. The sailboats in the Port of Les Sables d'Olonne (Vendée). Our painting is very likely one of those exhibited at the retrospective of the Salon des Indépendants in Paris in the 1920s. This provenance explains the presence of the spectacular original frame in wood and papier-mâché, patinated to resemble antique gilding. Niece of Étienne Dujardin-Beaumetz, student of Jules Louis Rame, she exhibited the canvases Grande marée (High Tide), Une cale à Roscoff (A Slipway at Roscoff), Le Port des Sables-d'Olonne (The Port of Les Sables-d'Olonne), Nu en plein air (Nude Outdoors), and Le Village de Villelonge (The Village of Villelonge) at the Salon des Indépendants in 1926, then in 1927, Denyse, in 1928 a Portrait of Mme A..., and in 1929, Undergrowth in spring. It won a silver medal at the Beirut Fair in 1921. Canvas dimensions: 60 x 72.5 cm Frame dimensions: 94 x 81.5 cm Old provenance label on the back, written in pencil "Le Port des Sables".
