A rare overmantel mirror decorated with a reversed glass panel depicting an antique scene, likely Roman, in a gilt frame with palmettes and its original mercury glass. There is some lifting of the reversed glass, which is no longer visible when the mirror is displayed at a height; otherwise, it is in very good overall condition for this type of object, which is quite difficult to find. First Empire period
