A Dutch brass snuffbox, embossed and engraved with scenes of everyday life and eroticism, set against a foliate background. It features two registers on each side, and a text for each. The inscriptions around the rim read: "V ERLAADT" and "DE VV ERELDT". These cases could hold a pipe, tobacco, and perhaps even the necessary kindling, which explains their large size. The hinge of the snuffbox is in excellent condition, with only a few minor scratches from use.
